Communicating Our Resources

One of the things we routinely talk about here at FPI is our ability to communicate about all that FPI has and does.  While we have a bunch to say, we try very hard to coordinate our communications efforts to “pace” the volume of communication our membership receives from us on any given day.  We know, we communicate A LOT.  We put out a fair volume of emails and press releases, and relay our work across several social media channels.

See, our number one goal is to be the leading authority on foodservice packaging.  So, to be fair, that requires a lot of communication and resources.  We want to tell you about all that we have to offer.  And when it comes to offerings, FPI’s resource collection is pretty awesome.  I might be a little biased, though.  You may have to judge for yourself.  If you haven’t taken a look at FPI’s website recently, here’s a quick snippet of what we’ve got going on…

In addition to our publications like Executive Briefs that many of you get from us every two weeks, FPI has a whole host of resources available.  We do a quarterly Economic Indicators Report and Packaging Innovations and Insights  comes out quarterly highlighting our members’ products (shameless plug inserted here:  if you’re an FPI member and have a new foodservice packaging product to share, don’t forget to send it to me for October’s edition!) a regular Legislative and Regulatory Report, and in the past three and a half years, we’ve done other reports on things like sanitation and municipal solid waste.  I won’t wax on about our Technical Committee, since I’ve already dedicated an entire post to them, but I would be remiss in not mentioning the excellent technical resource section we have.  And, of course, I write regularly about FPI’s recovery work through the Paper Recovery Alliance and the Plastics Recovery Group.  The recovery toolkit we have is a great go-to when you’re looking for items related to foodservice recovery.

While some of these resources are reserved for our members, we want to get the word out to everyone on very important things like FTC Environmental Marketing Guidelines Claims (or the “Green Guides” as many of you know them).

I’m probably telling some of you about things you already knew.  If you know about FPI’s resources (or now that you know), are you sharing these resources with others?  Do your customers, colleagues and suppliers know about these things that you do?  Are you coming to FPI with your questions about foodservice packaging?  Are you sending others to us?  We’re doing a lot of talking here at FPI, will you help us spread the word?
