“Membership in FPI is the most cost-effective way to obtain relevant industry data, research, statistics and support on every type of foodservice packaging. Suppliers, converters, distributors and operators can all benefit from the products and services offered as well as from the networking opportunities available at the semi-annual meeting.”
-- John McGrath, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Pactiv Corporation and 2006-2008 FPI Chairman
The principle strength of any association comes from the involvement of its members; FPI is no different. Through the Institute’s divisions, committees and groups, members have the opportunity to participate in the creation and guidance of all FPI’s programs and services.
FPI’s members are organized into three membership types: Converters, Suppliers, Affiliates; and when applicable, three product-related divisions: Egg Packaging Producers, Food Packaging Tray Producers and Linen and Lace Producers. This structure provides an opportunity for each segment of the FPI membership to develop programs and services that meet the specific needs of each division. Such activities include statistical programs, market promotion and other projects that may be of unique interest to a division.
In addition, the Institute has the following committees, which are open to all members: Market Research and Communications, Public Affairs, Safety Management, Technical/Foodservice Packaging Standards Council and the Ad Hoc Committee on Sustainability.
FPI also has a policy of supporting the formation of issue groups to address the common concerns of a segment of the membership. Through these groups, members can conduct research, develop programs and take collective action. Clear policy guidelines have been established for these groups to avoid possible conflict with the Institute’s material-neutral policy and to provide funding mechanisms for the groups’ activities.
